On January 5, 2015, these 81 Young Preachers named below gathered in the beautiful sanctuary of Highland Park United Methodist Church in Dallas, Texas for the final worship service of the National Festival. It is known as The Great Amen.
It was a memorable service, with music by the American Spiritual Ensemble, story telling by David Bennett AoP ’15, and a powerful sermon by H. Beecher Hicks of Washington DC. The whole assembly also stood together and read with the new Young Preachers the Covenant of Gospel Preaching, thus establishing these 81 first time Festival preachers as the AoP Class of 2015 and bestowing upon each one the designation AoP ’15.
This AoP class of 2015 joins the five other Festival classes to total 506 Young Preachers who have participated in a National Festival of Young Preachers and entered into the Covenant of Gospel Preaching. In addition, there are approximately 130 other Young Preachers who have preached in one of five Regional Festivals of Young Preachers and several hundred others who have preached at dozens of campus and denominational festivals.
We give thanks to God for this national movement and anticipate its gospel influence upon the entire nation for years to come.
