We are thrilled to announce Dominique Robinson, AoP ’11, as a member of our Master Class faculty for the 2018 National Festival of Young Preachers as well as the Senior Gospel Catalyst. Dominique has served with the Academy in various leadership roles since her first Festival in 2011. She gave her life to Christ in November 1998 and launched her preaching ministry at age 13. In 2003, she transferred her membership to the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church where she currently serves as an ordained itinerant Elder.
Robinson has earned a B.A. in Government and Psychology from Georgetown University, Master of Divinity and Master of Theology, both from Candler School of Theology of Emory University. She earned a Doctorate of Ministry degree in Gospel and Culture from Columbia Theological Seminary in May 2017. Her dissertation, “iHomiletic: Preaching that Clicks,” focused on effective methods of preaching using social media linguistics as a successful attempt to reconnect Black millennials to the Black Church.
Robinson has worked as a Contributing Editor to Harvest magazine, a national web based Christian publication; has been published in Celebrating Our Stories by Candler Women (2010), Presbyterians Today (2014) and the Columbia Connections (2015) blog post as well as other digital platforms; she is also the author of Unspoken Praise: A Manual on Liturgical – Praise Dance. Robinson is the Beatitudes Society 2015 Brave Preacher Award recipient and a 2017-2018 Lewis Fellow. Robinson is a proud a member of Gwinnett County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Presently, she serves as the Youth & Young Adult Pastor at Shaw Temple AME Zion Church (Smyrna, GA).
In addition to teaching on topics related to Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Preaching at the 2018 National Festival of Young Preachers in Atlanta, Georgia, Robinson will provide leadership to our newly formed network of seasoned Young Preachers. Rev. Brooks, AoP President and CEO, has recently redeveloped the Academy’s Gospel Catalyst program. An announcement detailing the names of those serving under Robinson’s leadership for this new program will be released next week.
