Chalice Press of St. Louis, Missouri is a major American publisher of materials for preachers. Some weeks ago they became a Founding Partner of the Academy and have agreed to e-publish a volume of the sermons at the Festival of Young Preachers in January.
All sermons submitted by the young preachers in accordance with the following guidelines will be published:
* submitted in digital form by January 15, 2009
* 2500 maximum words
* Word document, single spaced
* all quotes properly noted with end notes
* all biblical quotes also referenced with end notes
* sermon title and text at the beginning
It will take several months of editing and formatting for the book to be ready for purchase. It is estimated that the volume will sell for $15.00.
Editors will select the best sermon title and use it for the title of the book.
In addition, it is hoped that the Academy and Chalice Press can select 25-30 of the best sermons for publication in a print edition; details on that, including target date, will come later.
Remember those on our Festival Prayer Calendar: Adam Quine, from First Presbyterian Church in Owensboro, Kentucky and a student at Northern Kentucky University; Daniel Rudy, from Glade Valley Church of the Brethren in Walkersville, Maryland and a student at Bethany Theological Seminary in Richmond, Indiana; and all 96 of the young preachers who are to preach “that they will have clarity and conviction in their speech and calmness in their spirit” as they stand to preach just three weeks from now.
