The deadline for registering for the Festival of Young Preachers has been extended to Wednesday, October 14. This will be good news to the many young preachers who have called us, emailed us, Facebooked us, or even flagged us down in Wal-Mart!
As I write this news update on Thursday evening, October 1, we list 67 young preachers registered for the Festival. There are another 27 that we know are completing their registration forms: a student at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary, a 15-year-old boy from southern Indiana, a high school student from Indianapolis, an undergraduate at Cincinnati Christian University, a youth minister from Owensboro, a church planter from South Carolina, a very young pastor from New York, and seven Morehouse men (five current students and two graduates). And there are others.
In the last 24 hours of the original registration period we have received fresh inquiries from all over the country; most of these are young people we have had no prior contact with.
We will cut off registration at 104 young preachers, but will create a back-up list of those whose registrations comes in later; we all know in the ministry things–important things like funerals, surgeries, crises of all kinds, not to mention January snow storms–arise to push us off schedule. It is highly likely that some young preachers who have already registered and paid, will–in the end–be unable to come.
We ask this: if you plan to register but cannot complete the forms (with signatures and payment) for another week or two, please notify us: call me at 859-229-8642; or fax to us the registration form with as much information as possible: fax number is 502-896-0439.
The first annual Festival of Young Preachers promises to be an exhilarating, history-making event, empowering the younger generation with fresh authority and inspiration to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. Come and be a part of it.
