The Festival registration of James (Jamie) Bennett arrived in today’s mail. He is the fifth student at Campbellsville University to register for the first annual Festival of Young Preachers. He joins Sean Stengl, Micah Spicer, Joshua Hardesty, and Willis Deitz.
Some of the interest propelling these students comes from homiletics professor Scott Wiggington. He is offering extra credit to his fall preaching students if they register for the Festival. I predict that this will become a practice in many other school and I will not be surprised if some schools do not begin offering special January term classes built around the Festival.
Some of you will be surprised at another Festival registrant whose paperwork arrived today: Lucas Rice. He is a student at St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Seminary in New York City; he hails from southern Illinois and includes both Boyce College and Georgetown College in his institutional itinerary. He is an ordained deacon in the Antiochan Orthodox Church.
Also coming in the Louisville office today is the registration for Christopher Ludwig. His is the third registration from the same church: Community Presbyterian Church in Charlestown, Indiana. And there is a possibility for two others from this same church. Praise God for their pastor and mentor: David Flucke!
Stay tuned: we expect at least 20 more young preachers to register this week and this weekend our Young Preachers Leadership Team gathers to organize all these registered preachers and put the final touches on the Festival. It will be here before you know it!!
