Brenda Bostic of Lexington, Kentucky, has become the 300th Facebook FAN of the Academy of Preachers. This is yet another milestone in telling our story and expanding our base.
Brenda is a member of Rosemont Baptist Church in Lexington, Kentucky. I had the privilege of baptizing her last fall during my tenure as interim pastor of that congregation. Eddie Benton is now the pastor. Their young minister is James Bush, a student at Asbury Seminary and a member of the Young Preachers Leadership Team. he is registered for the Festival in January and Rosemont is the sponsor.
Rosemont Church also holds the distinction of being the first organization (other than the original four: Lilly Endowment, Peritus, Oates Institute, St. Matthews Church) to endorse the Academy of Preachers and become a Partner. They did so by receiving a love offering designated for the Academy. For this we will always be grateful.
Other congregations can become Partners. I preached yesterday at Howard Park Christian Church in Clarkesville, Indiana. Their pastor Lee Huckleberry is my associate in the Academy work; he is Senior Advisor for the Academy of Preachers. I challenged them also to become a Partner.
Our goal is to have 50 Partners by April 1, 2010. We are now about halfway to our goal and you can see the list of all of them elsewhere on this website: see BE A PARTNER.
Our next Facebook FAN goal will be 400! It took us about 75 days to go from 200 to 300. I predict we will reach the 400 Facebook mark about October 1, which is also the deadline to register for the Festival in January.
