When I began organizing the Academy of Preachers (and recruiting young preachers for the Leadership Team), I discovered that email is, like, yesterday, and the new medium is Facebook. That, of course, was a year ago and now Twitter is all the rage–but I have not yet hooked up to Twitter.
But Facebook: YES. The “I Preach” icon to the right is the link to our Facebook page.
I just posted ten pictures from our recent Preaching Camp. It was the first time ever and we are already planning for three Preaching Camps next year. Young Preachers who participate in the Festival of Young Preachers in January can sign up for one of the Camps. In fact, we might even start registration for the Camps this fall.
We are now up to 264 Fans on our Facebook site, a little more than halfway to our goal of 500 by April 1, 2010.I check the Fan list almost every day and today I am pleased to welcome Reinhold Gerbesh of Georgia, Lisa Wood and Don Gillett of Kentucky, Jen VanCamp of California, Rebecca England of Alabama, and Margie LoVette of West Virginia.
Who do you know who wants to be a Fan of the Academy? Send them an invitation.
In a few days, when I figure out the technology, I will post some videos of the Preaching Camp: YouTube as well as Facebook. (I attempted to upload a picture from the Camp for this article but it failed. Oh, well.)
Let me know what you think. Have a wonderful summer!
