Three Regional Festivals of Young Preachers, with the first set to occur in less than three weeks: September 28-29.
So far 25 of the 36 spaces for Young Preachers have been taken, and the registrants are coming from all over Texas, plus Louisiana, Arkansas, and Missouri. They represent (among others) Southwestern Assembly of God University, Truett Seminary of Baylor University, Brite Divinity School, Perkins School of Theology, Huston-Tilloston University, as well as our hosting schools: Seminary of the Southwest and Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary.
Two Young Preachers from Dallas, Newtonia Hemphill, AoP ’11 and Larry Terrell Crudup, AoP ’10, and one young preacher from Austin, Krista Phillips, AoP ’10, will be present to help host the event. And their colleague Dominique Robinson, AoP ’11 is coming from Atlanta to be our plenary preacher.
The plenary worship service where she will speak will be held in the chapel at Seminary of the Southwest, following the Friday evening meal in Weeks Hall, also on the SSW campus.
Over the course of the two-day event, 36 Young Preachers will preach in two venues at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary. The opening and closing luncheon assemblies will feature rousing affirmations of the social significance of preaching by the presidents of these two institutions, Ted Wardlaw (APTS) Doug Travis (SSW).
Housing is available on both campuses and also at the Ramada Inn nearby.
We invite you to join us for this unique, first-time event. As you can see, spaces are still available. Register as a Young Preacher or Guest here.
While you are planning your calendar for the coming year, consider joining us for the University of Evansville Regional Festival of Young Preachers, scheduled for February 16-17, 2013; or the New York Festival of Young Preachers, September 27-29, 2013 (on the campus of Union Seminary).
And if you can’t make it, a donation of monetary support will make it possible for some young person with a call to preach the gospel to receive the support and inspiration that is at the heart of our mission. We welcome and appreciate your support!
